In 1968, the Alexanders (father George and son Bob) had initiated a $10 million home-building program for Palm Springs. “ ‘I want to focus the attention of the nation upon Palm Springs, with its special type of health-giving halo for people all over the world,’ George Alexander stated. Special announcement was also made concerning the formal opening today of a new model home in Mountain View Estates. This home is one of the entrants in the contest of the National Association of Home Builders, which presented an award of National Merit to the Alexander Company earlier this year. The home is furnished by Arthur Elrod, AID, of Palm Springs” (Desert Sun, March 15, 1968).
